on

After the debrief with Bran, the group returned to the Stasis deck to wake Bran's companion. Lochlan nodded to both Biraka and Quint to make it so. Thaddeus nodded to Bennington, whom he'd asked to be on the side of the pod that had the controls while he was on the other side that had the monitoring display. He thought was a stupid design element.

"Ready when you are Ben," Thad said with a smile at Biraka.

"Whoa, wait a minute," Dae said, stepping forward. "This man's armed with a rifle and in some sort of combat armor. I think we should keep him unconscious until we can secure his weapons."

"That won't be necessary, Warrant," Talrian said. "Sergeant Corvus is an exemplary member of Starfleet and has served with distinction and valor for years now."

"Yes, thank you, I'm sorry, captain is it?" Dae asked. "However well he may have served before, from what I've heard of your story, you were already in combat situation, a fight for survival for weeks, attacked again on this station right before you went into stasis. Now we're a bunch of strangers waking up an armed man who went into stasis under some very extraordinary circumstances. And all I've got for his goodness if your word. Frankly, Captain, that ain't good enough for me."

"Warrant," Talrian said, taking a hesitant, limping step forward. Both his tone and look were dark as he regarded the jumped up Warrant officer before him. "I find your courtesies lacking and your respect for me even more so. In the Systems Alliance I was made a captain, but I was still a Starfleet officer prior to being pulled into that other universe. I don't know how lax your command here is, I will tell you, I am not. You will stand down and keep to Starfleet protocol or we're going to have some severe issues you and I."

Dae's jaw clenched as he glared back at Talrian. "Thank you, Captain, but Starfleet sent me here to do a job and I'm going to do it. This man will be kept unconscious until I'm convinced he's not a threat to the crew I've been assigned to protect."

Well that was fast. Lochlan thought with a smile, it faded as he realised he is the 'command' here and so would soon show it. "Proceed Doctor." He turned to Dae. "Your concerns are valid and it is why you and a security team is here." Lock said gesturing to the team that has been there since they first boarded the station, of course its members has been rotated through the entire Security department.

Thaddeus nodded, he and Biraka got to work bringing Sergeant Corvus out of Stasis.

Jeremy heard strange voices as he came awake. The memories of what led him to put himself in the stasis pod came back to him. The sudden appearance of the station when he and Captain Bran were stranded light years behind enemy lines. The meeting to this room and the knockout gas. Captain Bran was severely injured and succumbed to the gas quickly, but he still had his armor and weapons and was able to last longer. Eventually it became obvious that even with his advantages he would still succumb and he still had to protect his captain. He put himself in the pod in order to stop be there when they were wakened.

Which was now and where was Captain Bran?

Even as he opened his eyes, Jeremy grabbed the rifle and brought it up. There was a group around him, in barely remembered Starfleet uniforms and, with a quick glance he saw the pod he put his Captain into was opened and empty. "Where's Captain Bran?" he roared as he seated the rifle into his shoulder.

"Drop the weapon!" Dae ordered as he took two steps to place himself between the wakened man and Noir. Maybe now, in the future, the commander would learn to listen to his security personnel.

Jeremy turned to the man barking orders. "Where's my Captain!"

Dae wasn't going to take chances. He fired his phaser, set previously to a high setting. He wasn't sure if it was enough to penetrate the armor so didn't dare lower the setting. He fired. Or tried to. He pulled the trigger but nothing happened.

"Stand down, Sergeant!" Talrian shouted hobbling toward his young NCO.

"Captain?" Jeremy asked, holding the rifle fast for another few seconds but then he lowered it until it was parallel across his body. Slowly, he lowered it until he could place it on the deck. Then he sunk to his knees and laced his fingers behind his head.

"On your feet, Sergeant," Talrian said, taking a step toward him.

"Belay that!" Dae said. " Take that man into custody." He gave the order to the security detail as he frowned at his phaser

"Stay where you are." Lock ordered with a hand up, palm open facing the security team. They stopped but raised their weapons as a compromise which Lochlan was okay with. He faced Dae. "Stand down, Lieutenant." Lock said and raised his hands as he sidestepped Dae then slowly approached the Sergeant. "As you can see Captain Bran is here, treated and safe." He gestured at Talrian. "Lower your weapon, you are safe now. He explained the situation that put you both here and we will work together to investigate this station."

He grinned. "Also you are back in your own universe." Lochlan hoped that would put the Sergeant at ease, though he glanced back at Dae. "I understand, but not all situations require hostility. They had been forcibly docked, herded and put into Stasis without any explanation. How would you react if you were in their position Lieutenant Dae."

Lochlan turned back to their guests for their responses while holding a hand in Dae's direction to stall any reply until later.

"It's Master Warrant," Dae grumbled as he took a phaser from one of the other security present, turned to an empty section of the cargo hold and fired. Or attempted too. Nothing happened. He put it back to the officer and grabbed another. Same attempt. Same failure. He handed it back, but the third security officer caught on and tried firing his phaser himself. Same result.

"Captain?" Jeremy asked, looking to Talrian. He remained as he'd been, on his knees in a position of surrender.

Talrian nodded. "This is Lieutenant Commander Noir," Talrian said stepping forward and helping Jeremy back to his feet. "He's captain of a science vessel that discovered this base and is working on bringing us, and all these others, out of stasis."

"Sir," Jeremy said as he started to bend to retrieve his rifle but then stopped as he watched the security team pointing into the cargo hold with their phasers. He frowned watching it. Talrian only nodded once, indicating he'd noticed as well.

"This is Dr. Quint," Talrian said, indicating the man. "He's got a lousy bedside manner, so you know he's a good doctor. He's going to check you out and-"

"Captain! Your leg!" Jeremy said, taking a step back and looking at the appendage in question.

"As I said, Sergeant, you know they're good." He turned back to Noir. "Commander?"

"Yes, well not really a science vessel, an explorer more like. And acting commanding officer, speaking of which, we haven't heard from our command team or chief engineer in a while unless they were on Starbase 219 prior to this station taking its place." Lock said as he thought out loud, "so yes for now." Lock added. He was concerned that he'd have to see this through without his superiors' help, though to be fair he had been training for command for years.

"They really fixed you?" Jeremy said, as he did bend to retrieve his rifle. "I'm sorry I couldn't have done more to help you."

"Medical, Sergeant, we'll talk there." Talrian said, looking at Noir to lead the way.

"This way," Lock said and Thaddeus led the way anyway.
