Cronin led Paisley into Main Engineering and nodded to those who greeted him amongst the Engineers. He was looking for Lieutenant Riss as she was Assistant Chief and so the best officer to help Paisley get settled into her new role, though she had been an Assistant Chief as well on the base, so maybe this wasn't necessary but still.

It would be good to have someone be Paisley's buddy. Making new friends is not always easy for people, especially for senior officers, as Cronin has had experience with. "Lieutenant Riss," he called out.

Paisley smiled at the assembled crew. They looked competent, and willing-most were already working on things, or were holding tools, apparently having finished or were beginning a task. Excellent. She loved people who were self-starters. Paisley was more of a "hands-on" boss. She wouldn't be in the office much during the day-to-day activities, preferring to get into the walls and such and help her people with things. If she wasn't dirty at the end of a shift, she wasn't working.

He waved at the engineers who looked their way after he called, Cronin saw some smile before returning to their work, as they knew he'd prefer them do, while others waved back before carrying on with their duties. He wondered if Riss wasn't actually here for several moments.

It looked like Lieutenant Riss was elsewhere, but the nearest Engineer happened to be that Romulan Ensign tr’Khev, and according to recent changes to the duty roster he is the Damage Control Lead Engineer. Perfect buddy choice, Cronin thought as he waved to get Roman’s attention.

After the Romulan man came over, Cronin smiled. "Hello, this is Lieutenant Commander Paisley F'rar, she will be our new Chief Engineer. I'd like you to help her get settled and up to speed."

“Yessir,” Roman replied with a smile and offered his hand to Paisley. “Welcome aboard Chief!”

"Thank you!!" She said, excitedly.

Cronin smiled again as he interrupted further conversation after their greeting each other. "Excellent, if either of you," he glanced over at Paisley, "have any problems please let my Yeoman Master Chief Petty Officer Akosass Th'idran know if he is unavailable you can call me." He glanced around, there still seemed to be repairs. It clearly means that the Malon's theta radiation had done a real number on his ship and crew.

He glanced at Paisley after Riss. "Well Engineering is yours Commander, though I would like to show you your office."

Paisley nodded. "Please do!!" she said.

After a quick chuckle, Cronin gestured for them both to follow and led them into the workstations behind the glass wall that had the warp core on the other side. They walked past the engineering replicators wall and into the Chief Engineer's office.

"Well here is your office Commander." Cronin said, and stepped aside to let her have a walk around.

She stepped in behind him, and looked around. "Excellent," she said. She wasn't going to be spending TOO much time in here, but at least it was nice to have one. Mostly she'd be in here doing duty rosters and such. The joys of being a department head, right?! She smiled. "Thank you, sir," she said, again. "It's big," she laughed. The offices at her former posting were more like closets, as if Engineering were an afterthought.

Roman walked in after Paisley and had only been in the office once, when he reported in. He was relieved that this time he was invited and not in trouble.

Paisley noticed the young man enter the office. "Hello!! I am Lieutenant Commander Paisley F'rar. You are?" She asked.

"We met just before, apologies as I forgot to introduce myself. Ensign Roman tr'Khev, Damage Control Lead Engineer. We leads are subdepartment heads and report to the Assistant Chief and of course the Chief. I supervise Damage Control teams and under your orders direct where they are needed depending on skills in each team." The Romulan smiled, they had already shaken hands, so it seemed odd to do it again.

A chime at the door and Roman glanced back at the door with an eyebrow raised.

Paisley nodded, and smiled. "Nice to meet you," she said, then glanced at the door.

"Enter," she called out.

Ensign Chip Sparks walked in, all swagger, but then dampened it a little when he saw the Captain looking at him. "Hello, Captain," Chip said and nodded to Cronin, then glanced at the others. "tr'Khev," he greeted, then turned to the woman as he offered a hand to Paisley. "Are you the new Chief, ma'am?" He asked with a recovered swaggerish smile.

Cronin decided to remain out of this, though a slight smirk pulled on the corner of his lips. Chip was a full of himself type but got the job done when it mattered.

"Sparks," Roman greeted and turned to Paisley for her response.

"Yes," Paisley replied. "Lieutenant Commander Paisley F'rar," she said, holding out a hand and meeting his. "Nice to meet you," she said.

"Ah, excellent, I am Ensign Chip Sparks, your Computer Systems Lead Engineer, ma'am." Chip smiled as the two shook hands. "I used to specialise in holoprogramming," he added proudly.

Paisley smiled. "Excellent," she said. "It's nice to meet you. I hope we can work together well from now on. Did you get along well with the former Chief?" She asked. "I am just trying to see if there's anything I need to do to tweak my leadership style," she said.

Chip and Roman glanced at each other, though they glared for a moment before facing their new Chief. "We got on, though neither of us were lead engineers at the time." Roman replied as Chip nodded.

"Yes, I only recently implemented the Leads positions across the departments." Cronin added as he eyed Roman, then Chip as they made eye contact with their Captain. Both got the message, the Betazoid could tell, as he then gave Paisley a smile. "Do let my Yeoman know if this Leads program hinders your department in any way, Commander?"

Paisley glanced around. What was going on?! She simply nodded, though. "Yes, sir," she said. "I will do that. And I will have the other Department Heads do the same. I am interested in exploring it, though," she said.

"Don't worry about the other Department Heads," Cronin replied. "That's my job," he winked, "but thank you for the offer, you'll have Engineering to coordinate which is a large department already to worry about the others." He gestured to Chip and Roman while looking at his new Chief Engineer. "Unless you need these two, I recommend they get back to work?" He smiled.

The two Leads nodded and turned to their superior. "Yes, we can get back to work, Chief?" Chip asked nervously.

Paisley nodded. "Of course!!" She said. "I'll be there shortly," she said, and turned her attention back to the Captain. "Sir, thank you, I'll report to you as soon as I am able to sign off and get my orders in...order from the Quartermaster," she said. "Anything else for me?" She asked, before standing up.

Chip and Roman headed off rather quickly, leaving Cronin with a chuckle, and he nodded at Paisley. "I would like you to do a double check for any Theta radiation residue left behind anywhere on the ship, Riss reported there wasn't, but I would like an updated check, just in case?" He asked as he walked to the door of the Chief Engineer's office.

Paisley nodded. "Yes, sir. I understand, good to have two eyes on a situation. I'll have that for you soon. Thank you!" She said, as she headed for the Bullpen.

"No, thank you, I'll leave you to it then." Cronin said, chuckling as he walked past Paisley on his back to the bridge.
