The Betazoid captain turned to the rest of the bridge. "Okay everyone, Commander Morris, I'd like to know if there is some way of telling if multiple Kazon and or Hierarchy ships were involved in their attacks?" He nodded at Rafael. "Commander Montoya confere with Morris using the Voyager database for comparisons and so on." He faced Jason again. "Perhaps some weapons have different modulations depending on a ship's class, power output used, or something. I know our ships do and most of the Alpha quadrant species ships do, I used to be in Security and Tactical," Cronin instructed with a wink. "You two have 2 hours."

Raf returned the nod. "I have tied the Voyager database into the main computer so everyone can access the data. Captain, we could launch a probe to not only gather information on the barrier in advance of our arrival, but also scan for any signs of Kazon, Hierarchy, or other ships that might be in the area."

By this time Akosass had returned to the bridge and was tapping at his large padd as he approached the guest chair on the left of the Captain's Chair. It was mostly for VIPs and other bridge qualified officers to use. "The Ambassador knows and will join us at the appropriate time unless you summon him earlier."

"Yes sir." Jason tapped away at the control panel ordering the computer to start scanning the different weapon signatures and modulations. Stepping back from the tactical station he turned around and continued the scanning at the station behind tactical.

"Thank you Master Chief," Cronin replied.

"Captain, would it be advisable to have our shields and weapons powered? The Ledosians were attacked and they might be eager to fight someone in anger," Nebuchadnezzar spoke up from Ops. Ze was concerned that Voyager's previous visit may push the Ledosians as well.

Although not a Science issue Raf spoke up on the Boatswain's recommendation. "I advise against that, Captain. The Hierarchy and the Kazon know nothing of our ship or its capabilities. We shouldn't just give them that information."

Paisley looked around. Looked like she was going to have to say something. "The Kazon are warp capable, we already know. Anything else may be too...soon," she said, helpfully. May the Prophets name a child after him!! "That said, I am not excited about going directly to the fight, sir. Perhaps let Montoya release his probes and we'll go from there?" She suggested.

Jason turned away from his console and walked next to the tactical station so to speak to the Captain, "Captain, I believe a stand-by alert and/or raising our shields. We are in the dark right now and it would be wise to hazard on the side of cautious". Jason stood thinking loudly in his head not paying attention to anything after he stopped speaking, What kinda officer just walks up to their Captain and starts talking, Jason's face took on a slightly surprised look, almost like he was in disbelief when he remembered, I am a senior officer, capable in my position and part of the Captain's counsel with the ability and right to speak advise when needed. Jason tuned back in to reality after his minor breakdown and recovery, waiting to hear the response from the other officers and Captain.

"I agree with you Commander Morris, we will be cautious, I will approve yellow alert but keep shields primed for now," Cronin nodded at Jason and did notice the changes in the security chief's demeanor but smiled hopeful that he'd give the other man validation. He turned to the Boatswain. "While I appreciate the suggestion of showing strength but now's not the time for that, we are here to establish trading agreements Ensign. Besides we have the rest of little taskgroup here, the Merchant Marine ships and the Vigilant here to help keep us safe, not to mention our ship is quite powerful." He took a moment or two to think on the probes as he smiled, maybe they could justify them for early warning buoys for both Hierarchy and Kazon warp signatures. It wasn't a complete lie.

"Commander Montoya, prepare 6 probes but hold off launching them till our Ambassador has introduced us to the Ledosians. Ensign Nebuchadnezzar, keep long range sensor scans ongoing especially for Kazon and Hierarchy signatures as we approach Ledos. Commander Morris, will you handle those weapons signatures analysis and take us to Yellow Alert. Master Chief Ch'idran, is responsible for supervising both the Ventu and the Barrier." Cronin gave instructions, each officer and department head had their assigned tasks which should keep them 'entertained' until they reached orbit.

Raf nodded from his station, "Understood." Turning back to the console he began readying the probes.

"Yessir," Nebuchadnezzar said.

"Aye sir." Jason turned back around to the console and continued watching the weapon analysis.

Paisley nodded at Raf. "It'll be fine, Montoya," she said. It always was.
Well. Not ALWAYS. "Shields are fine to drop out of warp," she said. Nothing was wrong on her end. And she'd really rather keep it that way.

Raf returned the nod with a subtle smile. He was glad that she hadn't felt that he had 'stepped on her toes' as it were. "I'm sure you right, at least I hope so", he added with a wink. "Probes ready Captain."

She chuckled, but returned her gaze to her console. Everything was calm. For now. Just how she liked it.

"Very good, standby." Cronin replied.
